i think vista is cool. but 512 mb ram is not enough for its smooth running. what do u think about the vista
I think vista requires a minimum of 1gig for it to run smoothly and integrated video is not enough for vista to display all its eye candy
I give a good rating to Vista. I can't wait to put the hands on Windows Vista ULTIMATE, it must be really a powerfull thing. More infos here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Vista Regards
i aint tried one of the latest versions, ive been on one of the originals i i rated it 4/5 or more so the new ones wud be better J
Don't even bother running it with less than 1GB RAM, as a previous poster wrote. Graphically, it's very attactive though. And DirectX 10 should rock for gaming. I hear the new Pre-RC1 build is noticeably faster than Beta 2, btw.
Runs just fine on my 512 mb machine. Couple of slow spots (like Add/Remove programs) but for the most part it is as fast as XP was for me. All in all, I love it.
I'll never have it installed on my computer. I've managed to not install Windows XP ever, I'll manage this feat too. Windows 2003 all the way.
Too expensive, from what I've heard (and read at neowin.net); 499 canadian dollars for the Vista Ultimate and 299 for the Vista Home Premium version.
Yup, those are the leaked prices. Too expensive, and you're just buying into more Microsoft reliance. Ubuntu Linux is free, and if you install XGL you get all the eye candy Vista would throw at you.
I just hope that Vista will be what they say it will "secured" However, that's what they have been saying about XP when it came out. I guess we'll see
Well, it's impossible to actually rate something that hasn't been released yet. You definitely can't base your findings on a Beta release, or even a RC release. From what I have seen however it looks very nice. Microsoft has really gone all the way in trying to make Vista as secure as possible... it will remain to be seen if they have achieved their goal. I'll propably wait at least 6 month after it has been commercially released to even consider upgrading. If you are a gamer you should also keep in mind that for good gaming performance you'll be looking at needing at least 1GB - 2GB of RAM.
Vista (beta) to me is like same windows wrapped in different package. Looks similar to Mac OS X Panther skin. I think if they don't work out the "prompt for password" on just about everything wanting to execute, there will be quite a few households that will get frustrated with it. And yes, it will require some stronger hardware to run it well. I haven't been too excited about it since running it. Not much else to talk about it since it's similar to XP. Rate it about a 3 out of 5 stars.
