There are hundreds of bits to the algo. But somone mentioned the overused anchor text bit. Guilty as charged. I have done what I think is necessary but I have a site that is top for most f yahoo etc PR 6 on some internal pages, PR 5 for homepage, which shows I wasn't playing fair. And -50 on G My own fault. As such I have been delberatly dropping links. If it comes back to life, great, if not, I am aready designing a bigger better site, that is more automated. And whiter than white this time. Have a backup plan! If thecure works, great, I have two sites
i might have a similar problem as you in one of my sites.although for some keywords it hovers in the 40 range and it moves up and down a bit please update if you get any result.
PM URL and will send run a test script. Hey you may even get a -50 G T SHirt. We meet up on Fridays in 4 Seasons Sharm El Sheik LOL
The google "bombing" by getting links with the same anchor text over and over again is not new. Although, what if your domainname is AAAAABB.com (where AAAAA is a very competitive keyword and BB the extention of the country) and everyone is linking with AAAAA... Is this still bad or is this more logical for Google because of the domainname is 80% of the anchor text?
Totally agree. They may change it everyday. I don't believe that Google will penalize the website with same anchor text. By that way www.google.com should have PR0, since I have their anchor text in my website also.
I haven't heard of this. Why would they penalize for anchor text? That is unless you have the same keyword repeated for your anchor text.
LOL. so we start deleting our links? weird... I wonder what anchor text I'd use for Google.com ... hmmmmm.... something to ponder...
I believe Google are now penalising people who have 'obtained' lots and lots of links, using the same or similiar anchor text.. OR If they have fallen into the google honey trap and posted their links on 'flagged' and watched sites(by google)
As I wrote in October 2007, when lots of new links pointing to one page appear in several days, all with same anchors (which is unnatural) - Google will most likely notice you and the pages you were promoting may disappear from SERPs for 1 month OR your site will catch a newly introduced -50 filter. Use a link generator to make every single anchor slightly different.
They've always been hot on anchor texts, varying your anchors with the same meaning is still a technique. e.g. Converter = Conversion, Convert = Converter and so onnn. Getting 1000 links with the word 'Converter' is going to look shifty either way you look at it, I mean how could that look natural?
Whatever they have done it's failed. I rank #1 for a handle i use to comment on blogs, the thing is the handle is "not" on my site anywhere. This is the same principal as a Google Bomb, artificially elevating a sites ranking through backlinks/anchor text for a phrase it doesn't deserve to rank for.
I do not know how that algorithms works but you cannot have always unique contents. Look at all those News websites, they have always and every minute the same contents and they still are favorite website for Google robots.
If a site has enough authority and trust it will not matter if the site has thousands of backlinks with the same anchor text. Thik of how many links Adobe has with click here.
