Hi all, I have a few friends who've received emails from Google saying they need to get a CMP (consent management platform). This could be related to the recent €1.5Bn fine they received - https://www.rte.ie/news/business/2019/0320/1037483-europe-fines-google/ A) Why do so many pubs not have a CMP right now? B) What would make you decide to get a CMP?
Central Maine Power (CMP) is proposing to build a 145-mile transmission line through the heart of Maine to send hydropower from Quebec to electricity customers in Massachusetts. The corridor won't reduce global greenhouse gas emissions or create sustainable jobs for Maine people.
I am not a big fan of the idea that the government should regulate which business succeeds and which business doesn't. Yes, Google dominates when it comes to tracking data and serving ads. So let's destroy their influence so that some other company (or 10 other companies) could be just as influential? In what world does this work? If everyone "wins" nobody really wins. The same people that are anti-Google are now anti-Amazon. The solution? The whiny competitors should come up with products or services that people want and need. But since they can't, they'll keep running to the government for help. But here's the thing. Google is not going to relinquish their dominance. So this vicious cycle of them being fined will continue. Hint: The whiny competitors don't really want to compete with them. They want them GONE.
