What's up with Pixel Advertising????

    I was just wondering what is such the big deal with pixel advertising. Yes, someone made a million dollars with one, but WHY?
    The only promise is the site will stay up for 10 years. So 100's of people run and spend $100+++ on a "block" of pixel's. Now these sites are popping up everywhere!
    So I was wondering do these sites help you get any kind of traffic for your business, are they worth the money, or is it just like owning a collection of glass animals {the are just for looks and nothing more}

    I did email the owner of the very first pixel site, and asked him what type of marketing he used to promote his idea, and it has been about 3 weeks and no response.:D

    Don't even bother, such an overplayed idea. Nobody is going to pay money ever again for pixels, unless the site was something new and amazing and all over the media.

    It was a novel idea at the time, but that was essentially what people paid for to advertise on these sites: novelty. Now that the novelty has worn off, there's nothing left and you probably won't get any exposure or visits to your site. Don't even bother.

    I was just wondering what other people thought about the idea and if anyone really tried it.
    I think with all the smart people in this forum, we could come up with a way better idea:D:D

    Personally, I think it's basically a bunch of over hyped nonsense.

    You would be better off opening up a lemonade stand on a local street corner.

    I still think it's a pretty cool idea, possibly to give your users a free square or something to that effect.

    The thing up with it is that it's old. Worked once but won't again.

    It only works if you think of it first, which is always the case with all kinds online marketing. If you have an idea and you can see no-one has done it before then you have a good chance of it taking off, thats if its a good idea of course.
