Whats up with Hostgator lately not liking Wordpress sites

over the past month Hostgator has been a royal pain to us with shutting sites down on our Reseller account. They say they are consuming too many resources.. These sites have been running there for years without issues and nothing has changed about them - same traffic, same plugins. They are all Wordpress sites. They just keep sending emails daily saying accounts are suspended and make me remove most of the plugins and then STILL suspend then a few days later.. and no one there seems to talk to each other.. one person says everything looks great now and then hours later another says all the accounts are suspended for consuming too much CPU..

i've been with them for 4 years now because i thought they were the best after trying about 5 others - and didn't have any problems until lately..

    anybody else experiencing this?

WP can be a HUGE resource hog, particularly on somewhat busy sites. If you're constantly using that much CPU (Hostgator gives you a decent amount of resources), it's probably time to think about upgrading to a VPS or even a small dedicated server.

It could be 2 main reasons:

Your sites are being attack at certain hours causing CPU spikes
They are trying to upsell you to a VPS.

Its not the first time I hear Hostgator being more strict now on resources since they offer VPS. They do want people to upgrade to the VPS and kill those resources hogs.

How much traffic are your getting (unique) per day on each WP blog? Are they all under 1 paying account?

You should be able to see from your cPanel what sort of resources you are using. You'll be able to tell exactly what's going on.

Despite WordPress being user friendly CMS, it sometimes take a lot of resources, as someone said. The more plugins one uses, the more resources the WP takes. So if the WP account is not well optimized, it could not run properly on Shared Hosting. It is not provider's responsibility to optimize customer's applications. Everything has a price to be paid!

Should be on the bottom left site where the stats are. You should see CPU usage, Memory usage, number of processes, and how many resource alerts you have had (under account information).
