Been 2 weeks now and no backlink from this directory. Is anybody else having this problem? Since this is the most I ever paid for a listing I would think it would always be there.

for the first 2-3 weeks after I paid for listing, when I check for backlinks to my sites the above directory would show up. But for the last 2 weeks no backlink from that site is found when I check. Or is this natural?

I have paid for listing in other directories and they are always there when I check for backlinks.

    * Sorry that should have been "no backlink from this directory"* on the first post.

You do realize that there is an update going on right? I assume you are talking about a BL in Google? What about Yahoo, MSN, etc.? Anyway, no directory can guarantee you a back link, and certainly not on any specific timeline. Have you ever listed one in the KingBloom Directory? If so, did you/do you see any backlinks? Just curious. Thanx!

Anyway, I would give it some more time. For google anyway ;)

Been meaning to.... maybe I'll do it now.

Anyways, wouldn't you know it, I just checked again in Google and I found AliveD giving me backlinks to my sites. So, I guess sometimes it goes away then comes back.

Google only shows a sample of your backlinks anyways. They are all not listed, even though they may exist.

That is not to with the Alive directory itself but how google shows/hides the backlinks.

Here you go... read what bbott said. Google only shows a few backlinks... keep in mind that just b/c it doesn't show a backlink.. that the backlink doesn't count.

Years ago Google use to show all backlinks that were above PR4.. this gave SEO's a roadmap to help them rank so... now you only see a sampling.

Other search engines are rather more complete when listing backlinks.

It's a good idea to check Yahoo and/or MSN when looking for backlinks to your website and it's a good idea to allow sometime for it to be picked up and stored.

The best thing when subscribing to a directory is prob to check if it's SEO friendly (spiderable links: non JS or no follow attibutes etc) and if it shows in the directory itself.

After that you can only wait until the directory link is picked up (also assuming that the directory is spidered itself, with no robots.txt or .htaccess files blocking spiders).

It would be useful to know how often the dir is crawled, but if you have no access to the stats, your best guess is looking at the PR of the dir and of the page you are listed in, and if contents are often updated (an rss feed would be good or frequently new listings inserted)

Hope it makes sense to you...
