What's up with 1&1 Hosting?

I need to hear from anyone who has used 1&1 for an extensive amount of time (more than 6 months). I've been with them for just 2 months and since then, have experienced a lot of downtime - their control panel has been down 3 times these past 2 days, for instance. Is this a chronic problem with their web servers?

I hate 1&1. I used them a while back when they had a huge promotion. Never freaking again.

I'm now with Dreamhost, and with the HUGE amount of bandwidth and space I have, I have no reason to go anywhere else. I'm in love with 'em. Contact me if you want a deal with their services.

I have used them for more than two years without a single issue.

i can tell you that 1&1 put the screws to a new client of mine, deleted one of their domains and locked them out.

there were no TOS violations and my client expects a battle to retain control over the domain she lost.

that plus she says she has had nothing but problems with them, so stay away from 1&1.
