Whats the value of a signature link?

So I know that value is something very relative. "It will depend" you are all probably thinking, nevertheless there must be some general criteria.

Is it even worth it to buy a sig link from someone who has only a few hundred posts?

Someone with a few thousand or perhaps 5000 posts, is that better (relatively I mean) - as in is the value of an additional few thousands posts worth that much?

How would you compare signature links to website links?

Some people mention sig links being important as backlinks not user CTR, but then wouldnt your site have to be related to DP for it to be worth it?

I hope we can get an insightful discussion going and perhaps shed some light on the numerous sig link sales being offered.

May I suggest you ask for this to be moved to another section. Maybe SEO or Link Development and Im sure it will get an insightful discussion going. This section is for buying and selling links :)

Also does quality of posts affect things?
Would you rather have 500 links off someone who offers discussions (thinking ctr here) and posts say twice a week or 3000 links off someone who writes 50one liners a day?

*Hi Kel, my bad... would someone move this to a more appropriate section such as link development.

*Deano, exactly what Im wondering, so if someone has 5,000 or maybe 10,000 posts... How can you value this - it would take you forever to check his or her posts to see the quality.. No?

*letsjoy, depends upon which site is what?

Really? I thought the "link sales" section in buy, sell and trade was for that. IMO, this is a perfect place for this discussion. It talkes about building links through forum signatures.

In response to your question, from what ive read the most common pricing is about 1 cent per post, or $1 for every 100 posts. But ive seen some so go for more and some for less. I use this to measure the pricing of the links people sell.

1 cent per post... Sounds fair...

Anybody else have any form of valuation they use?

i think the value of signature link depents on two criteria . one of them is which site is this and the second criteria is number of the post .

trichnosis, so the actual value/quality of those posts are unimportant?

I think your first diagnosis was the correct one. It depends. What do you want to get out of it? Lots of backlinks? Go with someone with high number of posts. If you really want quality traffic though, go with a quality poster.
Depending on what you want out of it, pick someone who will give you those goals for the cheapest price.
