Hi guys, I have had people telling me that commenting on dofollow blogs is going to be a futile effort in the long run. Been rather confused by the differing camps of people around. What do you guys think? cheers TP
does a search engine or a human see your link? if so, how can that be futile? i just found out where to buy and sell construction cranes, something i had no idea about two minutes ago.....
Perhaps the word futile sounds a bit exagerated. But many SEO experts had warned me abt using such methods. I guess the reason is that we could be completely at the mercy of blog owners and they could turn to nofollow as and when they want. Saying that, i do personally use this strategy and had found it to be working very well - for now.. I also have some tools to find these blogs easily, which is a breeze for me. But i guess i am a bit concern about what the future may hold for this strategy... Cheers TP
Most links will be low PR even if the blog has a high PR because you get links from individual pages and not from the homepage. But you can also try to find some PR4 links or above and these are pretty good.
with a dofollow blog comment, you will get a backlink that provides link juice. That can benefit your offpage SEO, especially if you have good anchor text (the text of the link). If the blog is related to your niche, you may also get some traffic as well. Commenting on blogs is ok, but stay on topic and add a useful comment. Blog owners hate nothing more then comment spam. If you comment enough on a blog, you may also get a free homepage or sitewide link if they use a top commentators plugin. The backlink profile for your site should be well balanced. Try to get backlinks from as many sources as possible. And if you have really unique and interesting content on your site, others may naturally link to you. Happy link building!
The cool thing about blog commenting right now is that even though some of the posts you comment on don't have any pagerank yet the links are still very useful. I am a "cached page" junkie and am constantly looking at the cached version of every page i look at. Blog posts are almost ALWAYS indexed and cached frequently, with the last cached date never extending more than 2-3 weeks prior, most of the time the posts have been cached within the past few days. So this alone tells you that the links are worth something, because they are crawled by the search engines quickly and frequently. Sometimes when you look at the cached view of other types of websites with html pages or even dynamic URLs the pages have not been cached recently.
They definitely work, are you sure you aren't mixing up the advice with "nofollow" blogs? Yes, we definitely are at the mercy of blog owners, I think the secret is to find blogs that people have just for fun, and leave a meaningful comment. You'll be surprised how often it is approved Matt
dofollow blog commenting can give you lot of backlinks easily. however, there are certain things to remember, don't spam the blogs you comment on and always comment on blogs in your related niche. for example, if you have a site related to car, then making a comment on a health site saying how nice the site is with "Discount Auto Parts" in the anchor text will look like you are spamming the blog. no matter how relevant your comment is. all the blog owners need comments to make the blog look active. as long as you are making on topic comment on related niche, you are fine.
It's a free backlink for you, and they can often be high PR. I've actually found a method to find high pagerank dofollow blog comments for free - you should check it out.
Thanks for this info. BTW, do you know of any software that does this for you automatically? The one i am now using is blog finder but it seems to be limited in the number of blogs that it finds for the free version. I would like to know if anyone is using some other better tools. thanks in advance TP
Do follow have more value over nofollow. To attract much on a particular link optimizers uses this one technique.
I don't think there is a real difference, the main value is in the visitors you receive, so for example if I can have a link on a high traffic, nofollow blog or a site i would always choose such site over the dofollow, low traffic site. The value is in the visitors you get and if the blog is on topic/keywords then even better. Just my 2,5 cents.
Blog commenting is a networking tool rather than a link building tool. You need to participate and contribute and because of the time constraints it becomes pointless unless you are looking for traffic. Understand that links are low value, high volume assets and that if you are not building them to last you are going to have to replace them. That is a waste your time. Chasing do follow blogs is a waste of everyone's time. It takes every blogger a bit of time to catch on but they have to if they are serious about what they are doing and their blog is going to last. They will go no follow or zap you with Akismet. Stick to links directories. They work. They are built to build links and no one, including Google, should have issues with a well run links directory.
