I have been experimenting with social bookmarking with not so great results to show. When I make a blog post I submit it to OnlyWire.com and when I check my stats over the next couple of days, the results are none or very little. So far the only results I have seen that are good are getting ranked for certain keywords with bookmarks but I have not seen the traffic side of it yet. Is there a right and wrong way to do bookmarking and is it as effective as when it first came out?
Good question, I can't pretend to be an expert here, but I have used the bookmarking sites to at least get new inbound links. I don't see a lot of traffic from the sites themselves, just good/relevant links so far. Hopefully someone with a little more experience here can shed some light on the subject.
I get quite a bit of traffic from social bookmarking sites, I think there is a right and a wrong way to do it. I am not an expert at this so I found an online company and I paid them to submit my site to the social bookmarking sites. If social bookmarking is done correctly it can be an asset to your website.
Social bookmarking should be done in moderation but there is a proper way to do it. Start slowly at first if your going to take it on personally
I just started a blog about sports blogging and wrote a post you might like. http://sportsblogbucks.com/2008/03/17/drive-blog-traffic-with-social-bookmarking-digg-ballhype-yardbarker/ I hope that helped a little. I am not an expert but I have been using bookmakrs for a while and it works when you use the correct sites. Your site has a niche. Find your niche bookmarking sites.
I have nothing to say about social bookmarking since I have used it before. I will continue to view this thread to see what others have to say. It would be great if someone experienced in social bookmarketing could provide some insight.
Post some of the stuff you have submitted so far, and get some critiques on them. No offense, but it may not be A-1 material. When people say that they can't get any traffic from networks, it's usually because their submissions aren't all that good. I'm not trying to be insulting, it's just that all of us, at one time or the other needs to get our work critiqued before sending it out there for others to read.
Social Bookmarking I did thru one site and it worked fairly well to me but it is just a week after submission. Try to submit thru this site and check http://www.socialmarker.com/ - this will submit to 46 sites and best of all it is free!
I have been trying to find a link where I could submit my website to many social bookmarkers. Thanks Peterbndrs for the link. Thanks, hneagle1
onlywire.com is much easier. You only have to apply once. It keeps all of your passwords and usernames to all of the sites. I tried socialmakrker and it was very time consuming!!!! onlywire takes time to set up, but then it takes 30 seconds to bookmark at 10-20 different sites. It does not include digg but that is just another minute. I would use socialmarker on your main page but onlywire on the rest. TRUST ME! Huge Time saver!
I believe bookmarking it is for backlinks not traffic. Unless to be on top of digg Please let us know if you know
