I'm just curious what you hope to achieve with your blog. Do you really care if people read and comment on your site content, or are you just trying to lure people in so you can get clicks on ads and referral programs to generate income. Is it all about the $$ or are you truly trying to contribute something. I'm not judging either way, because both have their merit, I'd just like to get a feel for how people use their Blog sites.
Well I make less then a $ a day with very losw conversion rates, so me blogging for $ doesnt really work. I just love the feeling when i sign in my email account and find comments left in my blog. And yea, the growing stats showing people are actually looking at my stuff is kinda cool.
I have 6 blogs so far, all for different purposes. 1 for personal, 1 for markerting, 1 for anime& manga , 1 for real estate and 1 for swarovski's jewel. I didn't care if I made no profit of it (though I did intent to) but it's more fun to find visitors to your blogs and received comment.

Wow...I really expected most of the responses to be "For the cash baby!". It seems like many people are motivated to get their sites seen just to make advertising money. For me, I'll just be happy if a few people visit my blog when it's up and running...any money is just a bonus.
I have different motivations behind most of my blogs. Here's why I stick with my main ones: www.BizAmmo.com - This is the one I put the effort into monetizing, but I do still work to make it an educational resource for budding entrepreneurs. I also recently merged my marketing blog with it, so I'll be exposing Internet marketing fads on this one now as well. www.NakedPR.com - This is my blog where I rant about all of the stupid crap going on in the PR industry, while working to teach small and online business owners how to use PR strategy effectively, contrary to every move typically being made wrong on their end. It's where I blog when I'm bitchy basically. www.AllFreelanceWriting.com - This one I run as a resource to help new freelance writers, and as a networking tool for other writers. I also manage a forum tied to this one. www.ChickTech.net - This one is going through some changes soon, but will be mostly about online business issues done differently than all of the typical stuff you hear - I'll be teaching webmasters how to really build relationships, how to get major companies to help support your site, how to build more quality links (instead of quantity) with methods rarely used by webmasters, how to tailor offline marketing tools and tactics to the online world, etc. I'll also expand the focus on featuring women webmasters, and I'll be launching a forum at WomenWebmasters.net eventually which will be tied to this one (when I have time). I'm also going to be renovating my business site soon, and adding a more "official" company blog than my other PR blog... dealing with industry trends, news, offering white papers and reports, etc.
I use it as a general information source for my main websites. Anything that is related laterally that doesn't necessarily fit in directly to my main site, I'll write about and post it on the blog. I have no intention of making any direct revenue at this point from the blog. I consider it more to be a customer service feature, than a direct money making one.
I just have one blog and I am making a good revenue from it but it was the feedbacks from people that feel helped by my blog which make me feel that I am doing the right thing. My focus is now to help them more, surprisingly the more effort I put for other, the more money flows in.
