What's the proper procedure to ask Google if whatever is OK?

Do you take a screen shot or what do you do? Like if you ask Google and they say it is a violation, will they ban you?

Yes you can send a screen shot or build a test page that you dont have any links going to. I have never done either and just typed up an email suggesting what I would like to do. Usually they already know the method I am suggesting or at least I think they know and get a good feedback email from them.

If later they say hey that's not allowed and you're banned, how do you proof to them that they previously approved what you were trying to do? If you put the screen shot in a remote location, they can say you changed the screen shot, do you send email with attachment?

First of all don't do it on a live site with ads before you ask them.

If you want to show them, you can set up a test site and give them a url for an example. YOu could include a screenshot.

I have found simply explaining to them what I want to do is enough and they will tell you yes or no.

They are not going to ban you on something they previously approved worst case is that they may change their mind and contact you.

Every email you get from Google regarding Adsense save them into a folder for future reference.

To be honest if you got the all clear from Google then you should be good to go.
