Hey guys! I had planned to ask this question from a long time.. What is the profit of Url Shortners to the owners??
Yeah, and one day you can start redirecting all those short URLs through your system to profit points.
The simple answer to the profit from url shortners is either a) They a innocent idiots who think they are enhancing the quality of the internet whereas in fact they are providing spammers with a url to hide behind. or b) They are a bunch of crooks preying on the gullible, just waiting for a chance to download their trojans to disseminate e-mails with the shortened url to even more innocent parties. Nobody I know would trust the latter. The former will hopefully closedown as soon as someone notifies them of spam abuse. How would you like to see this in you daughter's mailbox... If people see a short url link, they are likely to go to the site and shorten a url. On the page they visit to get this done, there will be premium CPM ads most likely.
