    The DMOZ procedure is simple.

    1. Submit
    2. Wait for Years

Follow the submission guidelines and move on. Don't resubmit your website 3 weeks later because that'll do more harm then good. Since my popcorn is ready, time for me to read some dmoz threads for a good laugh.

There are two verified methods of getting your site listed...

    SUBMIT & FORGET
    FORGET 2 SUBMIT

The wait limit on both is about the same.

If you find it worthy of submitting to free directories, then yes, this is no different then any other.

If you do not find it worth while to submit to free directories, then why even consider it?

Joeant is a good directory having PR7

You can submit site free by becoming editor. And if you are not editor of that cat, can request in forum for submission.

A LOT of people have been accepted into DMOZ, and as for a time frame, it took them from a few moments (they listed it themselves) to never. There is no known average or method of knowing what an average would be. But yes, people get their sites into DMOZ, and not all of them because they are editors.

I've had several submissions accepted and have had several added that I didn't submit...

Considering there is about 5,000,000 sites published in DMOZ, then one can safely assume that 5,000,000 got in :) As for the time frame, it varies. Do as suggested which is basically suggest your site and them move on to other ways of promoting your site.

There is nothing more that you can do.

....because someone was kicked without being given a reason. But lets not go there shall we? you keep bringing that up, yet not telling the full story.

But then again, the ODP was founded on listing one's own sites, and it's something supported by AOL, and something that is WELL within the rules. So did I break any guidelines? Did I actually do something wrong? Or are you just trolling as usual?

Then again, yes, getting in, listing your own site, then leaving IS a way to get listed, and as long as one is following the guidelines, is perfectly OK!

    Hey Alex,

An genuine question a webmaster would be interested to know about.
    The main reason being:

    1. Dmoz is the most respected directory on the internet.
    2. Getting added to DMOZ will automatically get you added to 1000s of other directories as a huge number of directories take feeds from DMOZ (including google)

    How to get added

    1. Carefully read through the submission guidelines and follow them genuinely when you make your submission
    2. It will take quite a lot of time, so don't keep checking frequently, its not much of use (the wait is worth it)
    3. Do NOT resubmit, once submitted since it will further push you down the long queue.
    4. The DMOZ is moderated by volunteers - so make sure your submission is in the correct categories and makes them feel its worth addition ( have enough details)

Hope this helps you, all the best buddy!!

    cheers
    Josh Thomas

But do not confuse 'details' for 'keywords' ;) simply be descriptive!
