sometime, when i browse CB-analytics and i check higest gravity delta, i see products that have reached 200 gravity after 2 or 3 days of their first-seen date.. IMO that probably means they buy their own product via 200 different account affiliate names, losing clickbank fees everytime. they probably lose 1000s of $ just to get 200 gravity thinking their score will attract lots of affiliates...but most those products get ranked higest gravity delta for the first day, and then they lose 10 gravity per day until they are back to zero....Why are companies so stupid? What do you guys think about that?
most of the products which have gravity rise so rapidly are make money related products and they have lots of big jv partners and create a buzz before the product is launched.
I don't think that's what's going on there at all. It tends to be IM products that have huge gravity burst out of the gate like that. These are products that have a big build up to release --- products that may be advertised on many different mailing lists. Etc... So I don't think it's necessarily true that the gravity is artificially inflated. In fact the scenario you present sounds very unlikely.
lol thanks funny. like whats been said. They are usually maky money products. Big lists... then when people get the email they insert their own aff ID
It usually happens, when "the big boys" launch some new products. As said by Swerd, they have huge lists to recruit affiliates, plus many JV partnets, many website to promote product there. They easily create buzz, which attracts affiliates, but when everything calms down, the gravity slowly drops.
My .02 The reason why you see IM products, particularly CB products rise like this: That is not 200 affiliate accounts made by the companies, It is not from big affiliate callouts and quick blitz moves on everyones behalf... The truth is - when you buy a product with your own hoplink - it raises the gravity 1 point for the pub. If you launch a mega IM product to a few lists, forums, big jv's etc. aimed at CB'ers - it's rather EASY to get 200 cb affiliates to buy and get your grav up Then as expected by the pub - it dies off - It's called a quick monetization cycle. Most IM products have low shelf life and lifecycle, so when all the CB'ers are done buying, it gets to what we call the 'publishers plateau'. Don't think for one moment it's coincidence or not strategy built. CB marketers (all the biggest products) do this. The publishers know full well that most aff's will buy with their own hop, they encourage it, they know they get gravity AND money for it, it's a part of the masterplan... Do you see now why a new one launches and dies month to month? There is money in it but rarely longevity, and thus I've conditioned myself to think "no more IM products" for now... Marketing to the general public or a niche outside IM calls for MUCH longer lifecycles and more money for everyone especially the stronger aff's, and you get to build campaigns that last (your hard work isn't gone in a month when the product plateaus)... NC.
Ah yes! Very important point. This is a big part of why IM products get such high gravity so quickly - many of the people that buy them do so through their own links
Yeah, I didn't know that gravity goes up by 1, when you buy through your own hoplink, lol Thanks for post Norb.
Now that I'm a publisher - I'm understanding a lot more how gravity is calculated My example may help others to understand it more: My gravity is was 4.41 yesterday and we've had 6 different affiliates make a sale. Whenever an affiliate makes a sale their gravity goes to 1. But it's important to realize that no affiliate can add more than 1 to the gravity. For example if an affiliate makes 10 sales in a day, he still only adds 1. And if he made sale the day before he only adds .03 or so. You see each day an affiliate does not make a sale that 1 starts to go down. For example if I'm at 4.41 and all 6 of my affiliates don't make a sale today then they will each depreciate about .03 or so... that means the gravity will be at 4.23 or so the next day. So Gravity is a factor of not only how many different affiliates you have promoting - but also how recently each of those affiliates has made a sale. Eventually, if an affiliate doesn't make a sale for some amount of time - 8 weeks - he will add 0 to the Gravity score. It may be a bit hard for some folks to get their heads around that at first, hopefully this rambling explanation has been of some help.
