    Hey DPers,

Whats the most user-friendly - opensource and secure - ecommerce script these days?

Please only post what you've used from personal experience and why you prefer it over the
others. I used zen cart in the past and it wasn't too bad.

I'm looking for something with a good CMS, easy to customize, written in php, accepts multiple
payments out of the box, seo friendly, and built in affiliate management would be nice but I may
be pushing it there, but hey you gotta ask.

    Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for you assistance.

    JB

Pros, is that is it well designed, and can do just about anything. Huge user group developing it, and a huge user group developing plugins and extending it.

The main con, is that it can be quite difficult to customize. It is based on the Zend framework, and if you do not have experience programming MVC type php applications, it will have a sharp learning curve to try and figure out how to make major customizations. There's tons of pre-made plugins, some are not free, but these should cover most of the normal customizations that a seller would want to do.

Just keep in mind, major customizations may be very difficult to achieve.

Is it pretty robust out of the box without needed customized?

Does it support one click upsells and recurring payments on upsells?

what jestep said are correct, I must add, resource hungry, takes time to fix error, all host may not allow to run your site, you may have to find out a correct one.

But no doubt, robust and out-of the box. You may require a good pro to run your site if you don't know anything otherwise sometime you may face trouble, I have worked on several sites but don't see frequent problems once if you fix everything, its a bit difficult as far as programming concern but no doubt good enough.

I would recommedn to visit the demo or download and install then you would see all features, as demo site does not show everything

While I started to work on magento, decided to leave but later enjoyed enough, its design, easy to use features, neat and clean code and so on...

I have not used this upsell or recurring feature, but there is upsell feature. I guess for recurring you may get a free extension though not sure now. Some extensions are free but some are expensive for new business.

I'm not a coder, so I need something simple to use, but has nice features.

Thanks for all of the feedback.

This script is simple to use and has nice features.

if you are not coder then I would suggest to learn as much as possible for you regarding magento features, how to use etc. Though its pretty easy to manage.

I can say : once you get confidence I am sure you would love it :)
