What's the most number of "reads" you've received from a single PRWeb release?

Our very first PRWeb press release went out 13 days ago, for which we paid $85.20. Given some of the postings on here, I was hoping it would get 30,000 reads.

It hasn't been 2 weeks and it's already up to almost 66,000 reads and it's been getting about 3000 a day each day for the last week. That's despite not a single media interview coming out of it. We have had the release reprinted on a number of sites, so we consider this release a big success.

How much longer can this continue? Is this "reads" statistic a reliable estimator of anything, or is this just search engine spider traffic or something else?

We did a PRWeb news release on November 22, 2005 at the $31 level. The idea was to be in fornt of all the $30 releases. We were on page 2 on the day of the release. To date our stats 29,778/468/0/3/0 (Reads/Estimate Pickup/Prints/Forwards/PDF Downloads.

Per PRWeb on Reads. “This number tells you how many times your press release was accessed from our site and other distribution points where we have the ability to measure a click through. This number does not include the number of journalists who have received your release through email. In addition there are online distribution points that we currently have no ability to track.”

I don’t believe the numbers. Our information was not that grand nor large in geographical scope. After doing this a few times my biggest disappointment is the links to our site are not a live clickable link. We did not see a bump in traffic after the release. Given the numbers we should have if they were real people reading.

Before I do the next paid news press release I will be searching to see if another option is available via any company that will provide a live clickable link. I’d prefer to be able to control the anchor text but if not at least a link is my goal.

you can put live links in any prweb release, just put http://www.yourdomain.com . I have had great success, when I write a well written press release that has information, rather than just marketing terminology. I reccommeend them. The only thing is that you have to pay at least $200 to get your own anchir text.
    my latest release,
    dec1. 56,684/715/0/7/42
    $200 level

The live link on ours worked as well. It was nice to be able to get a bunch of links to our site. The stats for our Dec. 6 release:

    65,392/733/0/28/32

I honestly can't believe that our release was clicked on that many times.. that's just an unreal figure.

think of all the bots and automated press release publishing software. You will then see how a press release could receive so many "hits" I like to use the tracking URL I see in my webstats as a more reliable figure. There it shows 150 hits from my dec1 press release.

    jrd1mra,

You are correct. I found it at their site.

How do I create keyword rich links within my press release?

First, you must make sure that your press release has a minimum $200 contribution in order to use this feature.

Once your release has the requisite contribution simply include your keywords in brackets behind your press release.

    Example:

    http://www.prweb.com [PR Web Newswire Service]

The above will result in the following link: PR Web Newswire Service

A space between the URL and the opening bracket is not required but is considered good form for email distributions.

The following is acceptable, but not preferred.

    http://www.prweb.com[PR Web Newswire Service]

did these press releases bring your site those thousands of visitors or were those just reads? How many visits to your site did you get?

I wish some of you would post links to your Press releases. I would like to see some examples to get ideas on the approach.

Reads, not visits to the site. I did the $30 level. Visits was not my goal. We do not use adsence and have no plans to do so. My goal was to increase backlinks. I did find a few backlings that were picked up by MSN and Yahoo, none at Google. Google does not show all backlinks so it does not mean it did not help.

Right now I am focusing on registering at directories, some link exchanges and a few other things for this goal. We are at PR4 and when you combine most any keyword + location that we serve we normally get the top one or two spots after the paid advertising spots in the big three search engines.
