I'm planning to study another programming language and I'm not sure on what specific language will I focus on. I do have background in programming (specifically .net) so it'll be easy for me to learn another one. I'm planning to have another side line by doing freelance programing jobs. In terms of marketability, is it still PHP and MySql? Any suggestion guys? Thanks!
Well, C++ offers jobs in games and legacy projects, but I gather it's rather a difficult language to learn to use well.
First, learn Python if you don't know it already (or Ruby, if you prefer). Then learn C. Then get better at those languages, and actually make stuff with them. The most marketable thing is skill.
if you are good in programming, like you said, in .net then i would suggest you to go for learning php.
.NET is a good starting point, it's what i started with, i would probably go for Java or PHP depending on what you're interested in doing.
Marketable in what environment? PHP is good if you want to aim at the lower end of the market. Java is good for corporates end. You could improve your DB knowledge and learn about the DWH end of things such as ETL/SSIS & AS to compliment your transactional DB.
where do python and ruby values ?O heard of them a lot but i know java and php instead .but python marks a lot in IT market
