Whats the most effective way of link building

I've been actively promoting a site now for 6 months and starting to get a good amount of daily traffic, Until now i have been targeting keyword related backlinks all to the main URL. I am now going to taget some inner pages with a few different keyword backlinks. Is this a good idea or does anyone have some better suggestions?

Try creating a blog at all the popular places like Blogger.com, Wordpress.com etc. Some say it's spam, but if you post useful content and then a backlink to your site, it's not.

I suppose blog posts could provide good back links, but if the blog is hosted on your site then that's just internal links..is it not? But if you have a separate blog that gets a good amount of traffic and rankings I suppose.

The majority of my links have come from article marketing. By far. Just my opinion.

Best way to achieve quality links is submitting your website to a few good directories. Try out Directory Lister for a list of some good ones. :)

Posting revealing shots of yourself with a message that says "those linking to me will see more in the future" always works ... at least it did for me!

    just kidding ;)

OK, in all seriousness, one of your best bets is simply posting a little more frequently and connecting with other painters/buyers. Your paintings are FABULOUS, your blog is a nice read, and your mazoo art site is top notch. With your credentials, networking is your friend.

Also, is the following picture for sale? Wow:

    Anita :)

BTW, posting a few more tasteful pics of yourself painting (or just around-and-about) couldn't hurt either. It's hard to tell from the far-away pics, but it looks like you're a beautiful woman. Personally, I've always had to keep my anonymity due to my real job, but if I wasn't employed I'd be using my pics to help promote for sure.

Yes, that is the right strategy. Jim Westergren put together a good starter guide for link building: http://www.jimwestergren.com/link-building-guide/

The best way to build links is to create awesome content people will want to link to.

The next best way is blog posts, forum sigs, directories and toplist type things

    Hi Anita,

The great thing about be an artist and selling online is that i can hide away and paint to my hearts content, i'll try and get some more pic of me up soon but my camera card has gone missing and i am a bit camera shy, i think my littlest one posted in the kitchen bin
:-( The picture you posted above would be for sale, it currently in my front room and is one of only a few paintings that i have actually painted for myself. LOL If you are interested you could make me an offer for it :)

It is a good idea to have a different variation of keywords as backlinks.

Have you been submitting your site to worthwhile web directories? :)

If not, that's your problem. Only focus on high PageStrength and high PageRank web directories for heavy weighted backlinks. ;)

It all works but you have to vary it. Don't just focus on one type. You want links from forums, blogs, article submissions including ezine, press releases etc. you want it to be natural but as many as you can especially if you have competitive keywords. Definitely start focusing on inner pages but don't stop promoting your main page either.
