When creating a Mini site for SEO (link building) purposes

-with good content on each page,
    -keyword orientated content per page,
-links pointing to this site, etc

What would you think the maximum amount of pages these sites shoulds be for this site?

(considering the more pages= more link juice being shared, = less share of juice distribution per page, so i dont want too many)

    16 pages maximum? 20? 25? 32?

I think the minimum of pages should be around 10. ( >10)

Trying to 'conserve' your link juice doesn't really help. If you've got 150 different topics, there's nothing wrong with 150 different pages. In fact, it'd be much better to actually have that many (i.e. a 'lot') simply because your onpage optimization is going to be more accurately aligned with the keywords you're targeting for each topic.

Don't over-concern yourself with something like this... It will only hinder your website's progress.

I wouldn't dare think of myself as an expert, but I've run enough websites to know that the number of pages is not really an important factor. I have a website with a number of different products -- would it be to my advantage (seo-wise) to have all of these products on the one page, even if they're unrelated?

You use the pages you need to (and no more than that!), and a good link structure.

Whilst I agree with the above advice. I would recommend, for a mini-SEO site that you do not stray away from the content which you are focusing on. Doing so will dilute the value of the keywords you are targeting. For example, if your mini-SEO site is about 'Dessert Recipes' then you shouldn't veer off and have pages about 'Student Recipes'. This would defeat the point of it being a mini-SEO site.

Basically, whatever your keyword(s) is that you are targeting, find the top 10 long tail terms for it, devise content around them and build your pages. This is then as about as refined as you can get. (Taking into account all other SEO practices along the way).

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

    You run enough websites?

How many pages do your pages have, what rate of amount if many? and how many sites do you have?

Do you notice a correlation between -
number of Pages on a site VS rankings for them pages, for their page keywords?

Sorry, I mean to say that I have run enough websites in the past (i.e. I know things only from past experience).

At this point in time, I run one website, which consists of 15 products, a blog with a couple of posts, and all your regular ecommerce pages (i.e. checkout, shopping cart, my account). By far, it earns more than any other website I've ever owned.

In contrast, I used to run about 7 websites, all in different niches, each with probably hundreds of individual pages - nevertheless, they still ranked quite well for their target keywords.

    Correlation and causation, my friend.

Well, you've just gone a step further and elaborated upon one-way of looking at:

You use the pages you need to (and no more than that!), and a good link structure.

"You use the pages you need to (and no more than that!), and a good link structure. "

Exactly. Sorry for the over elaborating. I tend to do that.

    Good luck though.
