Hi guys, It's been nearly 2 weeks since i've started my site but my site is still not indexed by the main SE's - is there anything i can do to speed things up. Thanks for any help you may offer. Rod
Get links to your site, preferably from sites with a good PageRank and are spidered frequently - this forum is great for that. Also post a link to social bookmarking sites like del.icio.us and Yahoo! My Web. You should submit your XML sitemap to Google Sitemaps and Yahoo! Explorer. They also support RSS and TXT formats. But you must have links too. New domains are often 'sandboxed' for a few months, and won't appear in SERPs. Finally, check your web server logs to see if the search engine bots have been to visits. Cryo.
No, it just means the link doesn't pass any "value". You can get indexed (spidered) via no followed links.
Thanks guys for your tips. Adding a sitemap when you are using the blogger as i am is never easy - the verification always fails for a start and no one knows what should be submitted as a sitemap i.e the filename - it's so user unfriendly it's unbelievable.
Does your blogging software provide an RSS feed? You can submit that instead. Verification isn't need to get your site crawled, only to look at the stats. If you can add a meta tag to your templates, then you might be able to complete the verification process.
Not that I can tell. Someone told me send an Atom.xml and added to the end of my URL and sent it to Google just now and it seems that Google took it as a valid file name - it's in the state of Pending at the moment - I'll see what happens later. The annoying thing is someone just had theirs indexed in 24 hours! very odd indeed.
i have written enough about quick indexing, check out my blog in my signature. the main reason for getting indexed, in backlinks. simply get enough backlinks, and the search engine crawlers will come to your site and get you indexed.
