    Hello,
I'm a newbie to this forum as well as to Joomla. Can anyone say what's the learning curve for Joomla like. I have some HTML knowledge but very rusty on PHP.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    thanks

You shouldnt need to learn PHP to work a joomla site, most of it is pretty easy from a web administration point. Wordpress is a little easier to learn but I think you get less from it. Joomla is easy you just need to learn how it does things. HTML knowledge is barely needed as you have a WYSIWYG editor for things.

    Enjoy!

From a templating perspective your HTML skills will see you right. You'll just need to pick up a little knowledge on the php required for module placement.

Site administration and content require little or no php skills.

Personally, I tihnk it's one of the easiest cms to use, I much prefer it to WordPress. Once you've got used to the sequence involved in making pages and adding modules , it's very simple and adaptable

Once you have joomla installed, put /?tp=1 on the end of your domain and this shows all the module positions. This is great when you are using non-custom templates.

I'm very very new to Joomla, so I'm not quite sure what I want to know just yet. I just started using it a few days now. Thanks again to all the guys who answered my first question about Joomla learning curve, as a result I've figured out how to install it and now using it. I'm sure I'll have more specific questions later, so 45traffic I'll come to you first then. Thanks for your reply.

It takes a while to learn. But it is differently worth it. I will never go back to static html sites.

It's pretty simple to use, you should get used to it rather quickly. But like others have said, some HTML and PHP knowledge would be handy. And if you want to build your own themes you'll definitely need to know CSS and HTML.

Basically joomla is easy there are lots of tutorials available in the internet so you can be guided accordingly. It would be much easier if you have any backgrounds in html, CSS, php language.
