I think would vary on directory type i.e paid etc, we have decided on a set 10% of gross income as a figure for editors. In that this one area causes me the most lost sleep in that i want to ensure i pay good comms as i don't want monkeys.
I guess it may depend on your standards, preferences and requirements. Should the person have a specific amount of time spent in the business already? Offering perks?
Cant believe those ....'s take bribes to get posted on famous directories. Both of my white hat sites never got listed on DMOZ... like they just don't give a ... Sites are clean and very old ones more then 7 years old. I belive if i hire an editor they would pass it, and i cant see other way and it makes me damn sad about the whole thing.
hehehhe you read my mind I will be hiring more very soon and not sure the pay scale per submit i currently have is actually fair to the editors as they are paid more to reject in an effort to stop any editor from just accepting anything... what would you consider for requirements or background be for hiring an editor? just asking as id like to have a few dmoz editors working as well as qualified individuals or atleast some type off directory background, or SEO knowledge before more are hired. thx malcolm
I think it depends on the knowledge for each link, the ability to discern the quality of content of the site, and some SEO knowledge.
Good question Serg. I have an editor called Sandra who I found at DP in the content creation forum. Check the latest 4 links here they were added by her. She writes around 50-100 words for each description. I pay her 75 cents for each site she finds and adds. It works out at $30 for every 40 sites she adds. Its great value for me as I get some amazing content in the directory. IMO, every directory owner should be doing this. It seems however that very few are willing. I noticed Jeff, Jude, Bruce and Dan all add sites themselves to their own directories but have seen very few others that have.
I got a deal for 50 cents per submission with two editors for my Lawyer Directory but not only they write some descriptions, they get the phone numbers and addresses too. This is more like a data entry job though, not an editing job. Editing job would be to edit descriptions, approve/disapprove listings, etc.
I think the thread is focused on directory listings/submissions. If you are meaning writing articles then it will depend on the number of words. Thanks Brian
I think I can pick out which ones she did and which ones were submitted, for the most part! Looks like you got a good deal.
