    I fail to understand why do SEO companies, IT companies, etc use fake names while contacting clients or sending an offer online.

    I keep getting emails like;

    We offer quality Search Engine Optimization / SEO Services and Internet Marketing Solutions...... blah blah
    We offer quality Link Exchange.... blah..

    Name: Christina ...
    Name: Chris ...
    Name: James ...
    Name: Rosy ...

    With 70% percent ratio of sender having female names or posing to be a female.

    You goto trace the email, the sender would be someone from India, SriLanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, China and more..

    As soon as I realize its a fake identity, I delete the email or discard the offer. So whats the problem?

    Well if you can be fake while making an offer, for sure you are going to be fake for a lot of things ahead.

    What's the fixation with fake names or identity? What is your perception on this?

    They usually do this when targeting Americans. This is to create a comfort level one because they take it that Americans cannot and will not deal with foreigners. Also, they hope that you think the email is from a friend or forgotten acquaintance, making you more likely to open and follow through with it.

    i think most places require them to use a fake name, anyway, so they just think up something that sounds normal.

    Yeah the majority use fake names so that it pleases the western market of english speakers - to them some indian/eastern names can be hard to pronounce and remember.

    Its a bit of a shame really, there are a lot of skilled eastern I.T workers out there
