Ezine is tricky if you do not know what you are doing. I wrote this a while back:

Best course for traffic for me is word of mouth. 8-10k UV a day and 60% of my traffic is direct. Of course as the others have said that takes time. But it in the long run for me its worth it. I am not at the total mercy of the SERPs/

In short: Forget it. There is no "quick" in AdSense unless of course you are willing to risk your account by using shady techniques (read: Quick income with a potential sudden stop).

To get traffic from search engines, you have to invest time in building links and wait for Google to catch up, which it'll do slowly. A new site, presenting tons of links from the beginning will likely raise an alarm with Google (read: They were probably bought).

As for the rest of the shallow tips, that are constantly repeated in this forum: Forget social bookmarking. They only work if you already have a large user base (because someone has to do the social bookmarking). Press releases? Yes, sure! Anyone giving that as a general advice can safely be disregarded as a parrot. "New website opened" is hardly what you'd call a news item.

Directory submission works, if you can find the right directories and have the right content.

The actual fact is that, there is no fast or shortcut method. It's by slow virtue ways of gaining traffic with each passing day as you develop your site and adding more contents to it.
