I have been working hard on submitting a site to several hundred free directories since March of this year. As of now, I have submitted this site to around 400 of them. So far I have seen NO increase in my sites traffic or PR or even backlinks..... etc........ Do these free directories take a LONG time to list sites ? or are these things worthless since most folks find websites from major search engines like google, yahoo, etc ? When I say 'directores' here are a few as a reference: ----------------------------- http://www.elegantdirectory.com http://www.buzzle.com/suggest_basic3.asp http://www.freewebsitedirectory.com/ etc
I know you working hard on submitting a site but you follow forums view source and read no tag follows are not search Google. Its help to your site long time to list site.
The categories you submitted to may not be indexed, if your referring to google backlinks then they aren't updated often and same with PR
It may take some more time to see the output of your work Also try to look for some more popular directories which charge you for listing those are sure shot. I mean Paid directories. Please don't just rely on directories but try to get links from some relevant or high traffic sites this will help you in getting traffic. Directory submission helps you but for me forums are the best place for getting traffic.
Do these free directories take a LONG time to list sites ? Usually. or are these things worthless since most folks find websites from major search engines like google, yahoo, etc ? For the most part.
It depends on each directory owner, and how they review each link. Some do it in batches, your link in a batch could be months away from being reviewed. I know of some directories that took 6 months before my link was approved. However, it's worth the wait. Col
Directories are a long term proposition... you're not submitting to 400 directories to see benefits next week. You're doing it to see benefits next year. If you have a record of the directories you submitted to, you can check if your link has appeared. If so, see if the page has been indexed. If not, get it indexed. A good directory owner should be trying to get all his pages indexed anyway... but they're not all good.
It take some time to be listed and need a lot of time to get benefits through directories and its long term method but very effective way Cheers
