What's the different between domain zones?

    What's the different between domain zones, for example .com .net .ru? I mean maybe there are some special benefits for different countries?

    they are global tlds. normally maintained by diff registries. .ru .in etc are cctld normally backed by country laws , registries

    Thanks for response, but what about search engines? Is there priority for some zones or it doesn't matter what's the zone domain has?

    some SEs dont care for tlds and some give priority within local search for cctlds.
