What's the difference in SEO and SMO?

Hey guys,

I was wondering what the difference was between SEO and SMO? I heard that SEO was going out and SMO was taking it's place

If you wanted someone to do your website/blog optimization, what would you want them to provide you with and do on a monthly basis?

For instance, lets say they.....

Choose targeted keywords,
send 500 high quality backlinks PR 3 and up,
write and submit 5 optimized targeted articles a month to article directories,
submit my domain to the directories,

whatelse would you like to see them do. I want to get on the first page of google and the other SE's but I dont know anything on how to make that happen.

Just curious on what all you SEO guys would want if you were in my shoes.

Actually SMO, Social Media optimization is the part of SEO. You can also get traffic through social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Linked in, My space etc. Just create attractive social media page and keep updated the page and promote your services and products through it and make direct connection with your customers.

SEO is the work for optimizations of web sites. And SMO means Social Media Optimizations, its one of the part of SEO work. You can optimize your site with Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Hi5, etc.

 

who told you that SEO is Going Down ? its just changing to give the SEO better position. its just securing the SEOer job field. nothing else. and SMO is just a part of SEO. it is used to give you local targeted visitors.

As for my personal opinion, you're absolutely right, SMO is a more specified niche of SEO, you could also find SMM term - that refers to social media marketing, just pointing it out, so that you won't get confused.

 

At present Social Media users are very high, so if you optimize your products or services there definitely will get good traffic. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, My Space are many social Media platform you have, can present your products or services gently, get visitor.

 

True to say, as long as you increase your social media influence, you can't but increase your traffic rates, that goes without saying, perhaps, Facebook now has got the first place in terms of its effectiveness as a SM engine of promotion, simply because of the large number of users

SMO is a part of SEO. But SMO is related with Social Media. in this techniques we use Social Media Websites for website promotions. It gives the lot of traffic to website but In other SEO techniqes like OFF page optimization gives increase back-links of the websites.

 

If you're referring to ppc, then I would agree to some extent to what you've said, if it's not the only aspect you consider paid in SMO, then please explain yourself

 

It is really a tedious work to promote through SMO or SEO for a site which is not rich in content
