What's the difference between plugins, extensions and components?

    Can anyone highlight to me what's the difference between plugins, extensions and components?

    Are they the same things?

    For what, exactly? I'm going to take a guess at 'Joomla', but until you specify what you're talking about, no-one is going to be able to answer definitively.
