What's the difference between Black Hat and White Hat SEO?

I hear a lot about White Hat and Black Hat SEO. However, I have close to no information on what either of these actually are?

What is black hat and white hate SEO? Are they beneficial? What are some pros and cons regarding them?

Any information and advice is deeply appreciated.

White Hat - Following Search Engine Guidelines

Black Hat - Not Following Search Engine Guidelines

 

White hat is the ethical SEO. The techniques used in white hat SEO conforms to the guidelines, rules and policies of search engines. While Black Hat search engine optimization is the practice of using unethical techniques to make your search rankings go up.

 

Blackhat SEO - When you are (trying) fooling the search engines to believe your websites are good
Whitehat SEO - When you are actually fooling the search engines to believe your websites are good

Blackhat SEO - When they find out what you did, you (oh not you, the websites) are doomed
Whitehat SEO - Even when they find out what you did, they will consider you to be a borderline case and you might get away with it

Best is to follow the webmaster guidelines provided by Google and that should be good enough and you can develop your own methods through testing and research of those guidelines and improvising on it, you dont need to give any name to it, you give a name to your analysis and research then you start having doubts on your own procedures, some might call it blackhat some call it whitehat or even some greyhat.

 

err... the colour? lol kidding. well there are rules right, TOS, policy, etc. and you go blackhat when you are trying anything to break those rules. for what? you want good instant results for an example, instead of earn it by working hard following the rules, that's the most reason when people go blackhat. just for an example: you blast your site with thousands, millions backlinks in a short time instead of building it naturally. that's pretty much blackhat, i'd rather go blue my self, not hat, it's a cap.

 

My opinion that at current moment there are no REAL differences between white and black SEO

 

Black hat SEO are forbidden by search engines. This technique may bring quick result, but very short time lasting. They can not bring long lasting benefit. On the other hand whit hat SEO are allowed by search engines. They are slow process, but give maximum and long lasting benefit.

Black Hat seo is becoming harder & harder to do. I think that most of the time, the term refers to old tricks that don't work anymore anyway. For example; rapidly spinning & submitting pre-written articles to build a pool of links. Especially for a new website, this just isn't going to work anymore. This is a black hat seo simply because you wouldn't engage in this sort of behavior if it wasn't to trick search engines into ranking your site for those keywords. There is nothing wrong with making money online so lets just be honest here.. the only reason black hat exists at all is to cheat. No one would ever care about cheating if they didn't think it would make them more money more quickly.

Even so, lets try not to cheat, okay? If you have a website with valuable content that is relevant for the market, then nothing is going to change that. It is called search engine optimization for a reason. That is the goal. White hat seo doesn't change as often or as drastically as black hat. The core principals are always the same.

Allow me to clarify. It is becoming harder to achieve desirable results with black hat seo. The reason is partly due to Google's recent Panda 2.0 update. The more the internet ages the harder it will be to use automated methods of content creation & link building to trick search engines into considering your site to be high quality and thus; the harder it will be to get high rankings & be a top search result in your niche from black hat methods.

Focus on using extremely effective methods of traffic generation. SEO is actually just one base to cover to effectively reach potential customers. It is a long term process of building a relationship with your market online & the using the technical methods of doing that. Link building is like making connections. To do well you need many in the right place.

I guess Google is becoming more concern on the quality of their search result... black hat doesn't have place in Google's algorithm.

 

Thanks all for the advice. Pretty much what I got here was that it's generally not beneficial to use Black Hat techniques but white hat techniques can help you prosper in the end.

 

Black hat SEO is the same thing what they did in White Hat but only different is, In black hat people done the white hat system in Huge quantity. for example we do backlinks by forums profile and blog commenting and it has a amount per day. when we use some software like .... than we made 5000time more with those software. normally per day we can make 100 to 120 backlinks but those will be not active 100% but with software we can make backlinks in 15000 forums/blog.

and if you wanna use than i suggest Gray Hat = black hat + white hat.

 

black hat - not permitted but faster than white hat

 

White hat seo technique follows guidelines of search engine while black hat seo technique does not follow the guideline of serach engine.

 

Black hat uses deceptive, illegal or unethical techniques. There is also grey hat.

 

Black Hat : Fast results but short term
White Hat : Slow results but long term.
