Article submissions will do even better then directory submissions...just be sure you have the BEST (and original) content on your own site. And remember, there are MANY more directories then the ODP Forum signatures can do wonders for Indexing, Traffic, and SERP and in fact beat out both Articles and Directories if done correctly. Best of luck! Free traffic? For most categories the only traffic you'll get would be editors or your competition. Actual users for directories are almost non-existent...but you are right, it's still not a bad thing to have Anonymously is correct in that it's a hobby for to list sites, and not all that bad of a hobby. Try it, you may like it...just don't get caught up in the drama (from one side or the other), but as it is a hobby, do not expect a listing in anything that resembles the 'near future' as that is certainly not the norm.
