What's the best way to setup a new site for article marketing and AdSense?

    Hi,

On my next project I want to work with articles, submit them, getting backlinks, ... An AdSense project.

I've had different ideas and did some research, seo talking, ...

The decision is to have one good/trusted site instead of having mutliple sites for each niche and interlink them.

As everything should be one on site there's the problem: I do like wordpress a lot and would like to work with it, but someone told me it might be a good idea to have it done that way:

    www.site.com -> something article related
www.site.com/blog -> full articles, a blog to get more traffic to the site

I had the idea to set up 2 installations of wordpress. One at site.com and one at site.com/blog the one set up at site.com won't look like a wordpress blog. I'm going to post snippets of the articles there and link to the complete article at site.com/blog/article where users can add comments, do social bookmarking, etc.

Do you think this a good idea? 2 wordpress installations on one site? Only the site.com/blog blog will be submitted to feedburner, technorati, etc.

Reason is that I do like wordpress a lot, pretty easy to use, permalinks, plugins, ... And I won't use a cms because I'm not very known with them nor won't I like to buy a template or whatever. Not that I'm a miser, but I haven't found any useful templates for this project.

What do you think about this? Any suggestions? What about the major search engines and 2 blogs on one site?

    Suggestions are highly welcome!

    Cheers,
    Sunish

Hi, it's me again! :) Well, just looked thru the treads and had a look Drupal, e107 and Xoops. Maybe they'd be good to use on the main site, but I've had a look at Joomla (for another project) a couple of months ago and the installation was a pita.

Well, if you'd have to choose between these 3 cms's which one is your favorite? Any pro's / con's about them? I'd like to have an easy installation, seo fiendly, good plugin's, themes, and last but not least easy to learn/understand.

    Cheerio,
    Sunish :)

No, you can use AdSense. Definately.
You can add code to each post or you can use this: http://www.acmetech.com/blog/2005/07/26/adsense-deluxe-wordpress-plugin/

Thanks for the info Just to clarify you add it to your post - you don't add it to side column of you blog. So for every post I just put where I think it best fits in

You can add it whereever you want. When placing it in the code, be sure to turn off the wysiwyg mode and switch to code, you can even call it via php

Sorry if I sound ignorant but what is php? I have tried switching to code and by copy and paste inserting my adsense text and it still doesn't show up. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
