I am starting to use video on my site. For bandwidth and reliability I have been hosting the video and either youtube or more recently vimeo.

Has anyone got suggestions as to what they use, or what they would use?

Keep it on youtube unless your having problems. Videos can eat up bandwidth like crazy.

I actually have a similar need: Hosted video without related, and without youtube ... I just need something that plays with basic controls. Any ideas?

Have you looked at using flash server. Smaller file sizes and accessible by lots of people.

    Just a thought.

What's wrong with YouTube, it provides you everything for free, you can customize to a high level within the YouTube API, and you can turn related videos off in a simple embed. The only additional control it has, is the Menu control, but i'm sure you can disable this if you are using the API and create your own menu bar via the chromeless player I think it is.
It's also pretty fast, and decent sizes + now with high quality options. It is getting better every day for websites wanting to intergrate their services imo.
