Why does it not count sites that are forums or facebook? For example I have a link or 2 on fb and I know it is rel = nofollow but it claims to count those and flag it?

I have tried linkdiagnosis, backlinkwatch, and Google Webmaster tools. I personally liked backlinkwatch & Google. Linkdiagnosis, though was impressive initially, sucks afterwards. It provides limited information and one needs Firefox Plugin to get advanced information, I would recommend backlinkwatch - though it is slow, it gives near-accurate results.

slow but effective, you cannot expect to have hundreds or thousands of links fetched in half a second, the fact that backlinkwatch is slow gives me the confidence that it indeed does a thorough search.

I don't trust any backlink checker any more...most of them are based on the Yahoo api, so it does not accurately reflect what Google has indexed. With Google on the other hand, they are notoriously inaccurate for what they have indexed.

Just put your head down and build links instead of trying to count the AMOUNT of links. Quantity does not matter. There are just too many factors that affect your effective the links are. 1 good PR5 link can be worth more than 100 PR0 links and simply counting the amount of links won't reflect that
