Hi All, This may sound silly, but I'm only in my second year as an online retailer. Last year my site was only new so email marketing wasn't an option. Now that I have a decent list to market to, I was wondering when is the best time to send out an email campaign that is aimed at Xmas. My site sells wildlife figurines and a particular line sold well last year as it had a xmas feel to the products. My only market is the US and so as an Aussie, I don't know how the US see xmas and when they decide to shop for it etc. I'm worried now is a little too early, but I would imagine that waiting until December may be leaving things a little late due to shipping times etc. Any thoughts would help Cheers Dean
Mid to Late November is when I would start advertising, gives people a chance for shipping, and they could spread some word about were they got there gifts etc.
Honestly, I would have started already. You don't want to compete with brick and mortars by starting your compaigns the same time they do.
October 1st. I know it sounds ridiculously early, but you need to look at offline retailers as a model. A few years back, it was kind of like an industry-wide move (back when I was doing retail advertising and had to deal will all of this stuff), from October 10th, to the beginning of the month for bringing out the Christmas displays and ad materials. Being nearly November, you should get it up as soon as possible if not already.
the company i work for sell dinnerware, they start to receive christmas order at the beginning of Nov
I'm thinking of maybe doing the email campaign in 2 or 3 steps, starting of step 1 very soon. BTW, when is thanksgiving in the uS? Cheers Dean
start right after Halloween IMO...I know I do my christmas shopping starting the first week of November. Most stores already have christmas stuff here in Canada..also helps that our thanksgiving was oct 12...so people focus more on Christmas
