I feel SEO software's are necessary in today's busy world. I would recommend IBP9 and SEO Elite. Both are equally good.

just remember that software is built by humans, humans that may not know that extra trick that you've just learnt, relying on software is kinda limiting your seo skills to whatever the software has to offer you.

begin with software untill you are aware of the basics (because TBH thats all software can teach you anyway) then go find ur own way in the world of SEO.

But buddy softwares can ban your site via spamming and all those stuffs. just like automated directory submission will kill your site from google.com

it's better to have basic knowledge then start playing with the softwares.

That is why you should not forget to use your brains. SEO software is not the thing to rely absolutely on, but it is a good help in creating reports and doing some work that takes tooooooo long and boring when done by hands.
Using software you get some additional hours to think about your linking strategy, keywords, content or your family ;)

I agree. There may be some useful tools to help, but no software package can do SEO.

I vote for Web CEO as well (especially since the free version has some very very useful tools). If you are a beginner, the optimization stuff in the tool can help you understand things, but like everyone else says, your brain is the best.
