In the near future I'm planing to go to UK and I feel that my English is not so good as it should be. Are there any places on the net, where I could learn it more deeper ? Please do not suggest me to use forums and similar places - I'm already doing it ( post count ). Thanks, AF.
Grammar in coaching classes - useless. That's only in case if you want to improve your speech and similar stuff - grammar and understanding of how sentences are built should be learned by yourself ( I know that I'll have tons of opponents but that's how I see it ).
There might be an "Instituto Cervantes" near your area. These are schools sponsored by Spanish Embassies in different countries. These schools are for people who want to learn their language and culture.
Theres this site where a lady with perfect english says a few words and you have to copy it to match her sound waves. This means you will be talking to yourself tho . (also sounding a bit funny )
How do you guys find these threads ? I mean, it's definitely somewhere on the 7th ( if not even on 10+ ) page
Watch more and more english movies so that you can understand language first and then try to speak in english with people
As I said, I want to learn it more deeper than "just so you could understand it" ! I know it pretty well ( maybe not so well if I need to speak/write by myself, but .. I do understand what peoples are talking about and only a few words are missing in my vocabulary ) and I'm not looking for "a b c .." type of guides - more likely, advanced grammar and pronunciation. Anyway, thanks for your suggestion
Hey! Nice to know that you are interested in learning English. US English or UK English ??? There is a difference you see. I suggest you to learn proper US English as that is the widely used one. FYI, I have taken English classes in DP before for free. I cannot reveal the name of my student as his English is far better now and revealing this will have him in a compromising position in the forum ( Society ). You can find many other qualified online tutors. Good luck!
Your English seems to be good enough that I don't see why you need to worry about it. When you get to the UK you will find that the various accents and speaking vocabulary there will drive you crazy for a short while and there is no way you can prepare for that. You will also discover that you know more than you think you do. The only question is 'How much of it can you use in the particular part of the UK you are in?' And everywhere you go in the UK you will find slightly and not-so-slightly different accents and vocabulary. The best thing you can do is find British MADE shows, newscasts, etc on the internet and listen & practice with them. American made or other non-British made shows will help you a little, but will NOT help with the unique accents and vocabulary of the UK.
Hi the best way for you to move ahead with your English language skills is to read English books. You seem to have a very good grasp of the language but if you want a better idea of how English should be written start by reading books by an authoress called Enid Blyton. Most of her books are childrens stories but her use of the language is classical and timeless. They are fun to read, I grew up with her books and I am sure that is the reason my reading and writing skills have always been above average.
I prefer to apply basic Grammatical Basics and try to conversate with anyone who knows English or create an environment where you can communicate in English to people! I had tested in recent past it worked so well to me
