    Hey folks, What's the best combination of a meta tag? I have a website selling customized tshirts and other gift items

    What is the best combination that would work. Also, where does one insert the meta tags exactly? I have my site on wordpress

    Avoid repetition of keywords in meta tags and don't over do it. couple of keywords are fine. Make sure those keywords are also in body of page too!

    Deopends which meta tags? if you mean the keyword tag then it doesnt really matter as Google doesnt really pay any attention to it

    Title tag should be informative and makes the user want to click, try and get the relevant keyphrase in their aswell but dont stuff it

    The description should just basically tell Google and the user what that exact page is about, keep the description between 120 and 160 characters if possible aswell

    I would check out the wordpress page on this subject answers almost all your questions...

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Meta_Tags_in_WordPress

    To add meta tags to your site, simply add them to the header.php template file in your WordPress Theme, specifically in the head section near the link for the style sheet. At the top you will see the DOCTYPE tag and below that you will see a couple more tags and then the <title> tag, looking something like this:

    <title /><?php bloginfo('name'); ? /><?php wp_title(); ? /></title />

    I would first google for a keyword and then check the meta data of few top sites and see how are they ranked on top.

    Meta tags include the Keyword and the Description tag. The keywords in the "keyword" tag are useful only if they appear in the body text. Most search engines ignore irrelevant keywords, so make sure you mention relevant ones.

    It's better to restrict the number of words in the Description tag to 10-15 words. Place the most important phrases at the start of the description.

    The Title tag is a separate tag and it is placed before Meta tags.

    Meta keyword and meta description aren't as important as the "title page", even if you don't have a meta description, search engines will get a full description of your page.
    Do not re-use a keyword more than 3-5 times in your meta keyword, and do not put too many keywords in there either.
    You should worry less about meta keyword/description. They aren't important no more.
