I'm looking to start a live talk show type video website. I would like to use open-source or free software. There are a few to choose from on SourceForge but I don't really know which one to get. Can anyone tell me what my best option for this is. Thanks...
Hi, First off you probably cannot expect to get this service without paying, to stream video you will probably need a server to relay to your viewers, as a normal household connection will not do, because video streams are probably 128kbps minimum if you want half decent quality. PM if you wish to talk more. -Hecky
You could use an external site to host your vids - the streaming and DLing would all be on them... check out: Brightcove or Veoh they're free - would that work?
I was watching "the lab with Leo Laporte" the other week where he was talking about a service called Ustream.. It's free and is interactive (the people watching can type questions etc.) and can also be embed on a web page... A quote from there site Ustream is a platform that provides live interactive video for everyone. Anyone with a camera and an Internet connection can use Ustream to broadcast to a global audience. end quote. Im guessing the reason that its free is because along the bottom of the live stream are small ads like AMD INTEL etc... Anyway it may be worth a look http://www.ustream.tv
