Theres a list with reviews of some cpm banner and popunder/popup networks here, but truthfully with a forum you are likely to not get into the larger and better paying networks. Adbrite is alright as mentioned above.

In sites like this you have the option of running network ads until your space is filled with direct advertisers.
Tribal fusion is best of all but it demands very high traffic which is about I think 5000 uniques per day!

I also hear that Adsense doesn't produce all that well on message boards. I'm still doing research before I launch my message board.

Unfortunately, it doesn't mean anything... just wait a few weeks, and you'll see your income deacreasing significantly with Adsense.

Yes, i would be intrested. But the thing is, i wouldnt want it so that every time someone comes to my site, they get some 5 second audio being played through their speakers. Is there an ad network where it can display videos, and every time a user plays one i get paid?
