The general consensus around here is that affiliates deserve 75% and that they won't touch anything for less. I think that's somewhat unfair - the amount of commission which is *fair* and *profitable* to affiliates depends on the product price, market size and conversion rate. If you offer 75% commission but can only sell 1 a week it's not really worth it. However, if you offer 25% commission and affiliates can sell 100 a day and make a 500% ROI then it should be OK.

I'd say go for at least 60% (since affiliates will do most of the work so should get most of the money), then maybe offer an extra 5-10% for super affiliates who really bring home the bacon. Anyone whining about percentages when they're only making 1 sale a week isn't worth listening to in the long run of publishing.

For example, Swerd's Earth4Energy is giving out 100% commission on the front end product for affiliates doing more than 700 sales a month (or something like that).

In short: giving out a high commission is worth it, but the affiliates have absolutely got to earn it.

I would say 75% on a 150 product is going to attract a lot of affiliate and hence a lot of sales.
