Hey Steve, long time no talk..
You already know i'm a Drupal man too.. almost 6,000 pages and it's still humming along pretty well...

however, depending on what you want, like if you JUST want simple pages and raw-speed, something simpler like Wordpress might be better..

We like Drupal. We use it to host all our new sites. It is pretty flexible, but you need to have a little bit of a tech background to get into the customizations.

We are developers so it is great for us...

well I'd still go for joomla, seems most people prefer drupal here but joomlas vast range of extentions makes it my favorite choice.

I haven't used Drupal very much but from what I could see there werent that many major mods. [I may be wrong, I've hardly used it after all]

Things that impress me with joomla

    1) Community builder
    2) Virtue Mart
    3) Great Support Community
    4) Huge ammount of pre done commercial templates for cheap prices, look professional
    5) Loads of variety, just take PM systems for example, there are loads of FREE PM systems in joomla and if that doesn't suit you there are commercial ones that do AWESOME jobs.
    6) Facility to synchronize users on multiple sites with 1 script
    7) Has its own forum script and looks awesome
    8) Free :p [Yes drupal is as well ;p]
    9) Well nearly anything anyone would need to make a site is there, if it isn't it's normally there but needs a bit of 'modifying' and most of the time very little knowledge is known.
    10) Well there are some really awesome stuff that's only known to those who use joomla for a long period of time ::) I prefer keeping it that way ^_^

Give it a try, there is a huge community which can help you out. And there are tonz of components/modules ... some commercial, most of them free though.

You should add ModX to your list.
