    I personally love CometChat.
    I like it because it supports both community-based communication and individual, one-on-one chats. It also integrates with both Facebook and Gtalk.

    There's a bunch more features which I think you're capable of researching; the price isn't generous but, to be honest, I think it's worth it.

    123flashchat seems kind f expensive if you run it on your own server. I was on a site that used tufat flashchat and i was good.

    have you seen the Taiwanese and the students from Hongkong using Line like a walkeytalkey? They don't text much any more. they would record a conversation and they would send it to each other. it's pretty popular over there now
