I also have to go with wordpress, which is the only one I use.

You can install it in less that 5 minutes (be sure to check that your hosting plan meets the required needs) or you can install it in one click if you have Fantastico installed.

There is also a huge library of [SEARCH=GOOGLE]free wordpress themes[/SEARCH] available which you can easily install/customize.

You may want to start out with a free blogger blog. It's free, fast to setup and using it for a while will help you know what you are looking for in a blog script.

It's a very good idea. Start with a blogger blog. It's easy to post and to edit.

However, after a while, you may want to upgrade to wordpress. It's much better, and your readers will like the choice too. Search engines as well.

Wordpress allows for more functionality (due to the big amount of plugins available). But if you do start blogging in blogspot you can then import to wordpress with a few clicks.

it depends on how much control you want.

Start with blogger, then move on to wordpress or movabletype

MovableType allows you to create multiple blogs on the same host... but albeit more difficult to install, requiring cgi access and everything

I'm still using wordpress, experimenting with movable type :p

Totally agree. Developing a custom theme for Wordpress is a piece of cake also.

I recently started a Google blog talkfotoviva.blogspot.com to try and promote my photography site and help it seem an active site.

I presumed that it being a Google blog site it would work well with Google ranking and the net in general, but everyone seems to be yakin' on about Wordpress! Should I ditch Google and start again in WP? If so, why?

    Thanks a bunch folks :)

Blogspot blogs often get worse rankings than Wordpress blogs - Wordpress and many templates are optimized for SEO, while the standard Blogspot blogs are not.

BUT, for all this negativity a Blogger blog is a quick and simple way of getting an AdSense account up and running. It's also quite easy to maintain and simple to post. If it's your first blog and it's just a case of posting photos then Blogger will suit your purposes adequately.

I advise that if you're wanting to start something permanent and ongoing, go straight to Wordpress...there's no two ways about it, it's far better than Blogger.

I want to set up a blog on my website but havent decide on the software to use.

I am aware of Wordpress however are there any other good blogging script around?

I want a script that is very well supported and also is very good for redesigning as i will need a very specific skin/template coded for it to fit in the site design of my main website.

Any suggestions or should i just stick with Wordpress... and if so are there any good designers out there who could code from a PSD file?
