Okay I know there might not be the "best" but is a really good Adware/ spyware for personal computers? I have heard LavaSoft makes a good program.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

GIANT spyware is a great program. Just got picked up by microsoft, so you will need a registered version of WIN to run.

Silly as it may seem, since I've had both XP SP2 and NAV 2006 I haven't needed any adware spyware stuff - Spybot and AdAware find nothing so I don't even bother running them much anymore.

    But the best spware/adware tool is still Mac OS X .... :) :) :)

Go to windowsupdate . microsoft . com and get all the updates for your OS. Microsoft releases patches all the time for known spyware/adware, browser hijackers etc. Make sure you keep your computer up-to-date, that in itself will fix most of the problems. Then install Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta. All this is free, so you don't have to spend a dime.

I vote for SpyBOT as well. The reason for this being it has a very rather smooth registry monitor called teatimer. The updates are good and it is FREE and comes without ads.

I had loads of trouble with a browser hijacker and tried them all to no avail.I was just about to do a full reinstall  when I tried Panda Active scan,an online scanner http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm

This picked up loads of stuff the others didnt so I bought Platinum Internet Security 2005.This has anti virus, anti spyware and a firewall.I did one scan and it removed the lot.I am very pleased with it.Its all you need.

I use a relatively unknown program called startguard pro, from www.startguard.net.

My friend developed the program, but has no time to advertise it.

Unlike the other programs which wastes time scanning for meaningless registry entries and cookies, this one only scans for spywares and does it within 3 seconds.

If you dont' believe me, test it for yourself.

    Best Regards,
    Surfup
