Seems to be majority webmasters emphasize so much in PR. What exactly the benefits of having a high PR website? Does it mean that if our website's PR is higher, the link selling in this website worth a higher price?
Helps google to rank your page.. Increases SERP (According to most of people, personally I don't think so)
Its unrelated to SERP, however due to popular misconceptions like yours, it does raise the price of links on a high PR page. PR is Googles way of ranking your site according to valid content. SERP is Googles way of ranking your site according to key search phrases
And most of the time, the PR you see in your toolbar or elsewhere is out of date and sometimes even false - so it's an almost pointless statistic at this point.
Actually even I think that but I saw a very big discussion here on DP almost 95% people said I affect I changed my mind then.
Google has always maintained that PR affects SERPs. We should understand it as "PR is one of the several factors that affects SERPs". The misconception is high PR = good SERPs.. for others the misconception PR is not related SERPs.. but I would say it's middle ground. PR contributes towards SERPs but its one of many factors.. High PR doesn't always mean good SERPs. I have my PR2/3 websites ranking higher than PR5 competing websites. You are right about raised prices for links on high PR pages.. those are slightly overhyped.. but not entirely incorrect
I am glad we are on the same page To answers OPs question: Yes, you have a higher PR website you can ask for more money to sell links.. I hope you know it's against google's TOS to buy/sell links to manipulate SERPs.
See, now that is an interesting comment right there. The whole PR/SERPS argument can be somewhat validated rather quickly by looking at page one of the search engines. On the same token, I put more faith in keywords for SERPS. Interesting diatribe nonetheless. Jitendraag brings up "Google has always maintained that PR affects SERPs." Anyone have a link to this statement from Google?
well, if you have a high PR site this would not neccessarily mean that you rank high for a certain keyword. but we all know how important the anchor text is when getting backlinks, right? so, what you can do then is pass over this high PR of your site to all other subpages of your site with the keyword as the anchor. dont you think this would influence the subpages in respect to the keyword rankings you target? I would say yes. So, generally spoken, having a high PR site is always a benefit.
Here's one big benefit — "PageRank reflects our [Google's] view of the importance of web pages." Here's another big benefit — "Pages that we believe are important pages receive a higher PageRank and are more likely to appear at the top of the search results." Source: http://www.google.com/corporate/tech.html (©2008 Google) These benefits are consistently ignored by DP's large and vocal "PR is useless" crowd. A mental block is a hard thing to dislodge. If the company (Google) that computes, publishes, and uses PageRank in their searches says (1) it reflects their view of web pages' importance and (2) makes your pages more likely to score at the top of SERPs, then I suggest that those are two mighty big benefits of PR — which was the original poster's question.
Just to clarify, I meant that backlinks lead to high PR and backlinks are also a factor in high rankings. PR just seems to be a quantifiable measure of counting backlinks.
People obsess about PR, but if you commit to building a great site, you will naturally build a great PR.
Thanks to all of you who answers my post "aggressively" especially Simply123 & Jitendraag". Thanks really, all your answers have triggered me the understanding of the benefits of having a high PR site. At the end of the day, by having a quality high PR site. That's means our sites is important in Google's view and surely it will drive traffics. Once we have a high traffics site, there is always great opportunity to make money. Am i right?
yes you are right because then you can receive revenue from ads/affiliates or simply sell your website.
