    Directory submissions help a site to get free one way links and links are seo!!!!!

    But these days there are many many spam directories which really needs to ignore to submit a site.

    Not many people bother with directories (myself included), true, it gets you some traffic (very very little) and a backlink, however most directories you have to pay yo have a good posted backlink. Still, some people submit to thousands and thousands of dirctories, so a little boost in traffic multiplied by that might mean something

    For low competition keywords, directory submission still works well. They aren't any good for PageRank but for making a site rank for keywords ther are still OK.

    It can get you backlinks and stuff. BUT, it's not the best way, cuz it wont improve your ranking on Google. Real backlinks are best.

    Pretty much pointless right now. Took forever to get into DMOZ, but really, who looks in directories for anything anymore? It may, or may not get used by a search engine for ranking, who knows, but I really haven't seen much use come out of my site get in to it.
