Hey, What Cj means as a software traffic? what would be called a traffic that is coming from MSN for instance, is that software traffic? What if i use email marketing that is not associated to one of my websites, how would cj handle that traffic? Thanks.
I assume you are an affiliate and asking about the different marketing methods CJ wants you to tell them if you use? Then no software traffic is only if you have some sort of download application, like a rebate reminder or deals toolbar - actual software that gets loaded on the consumer's computer. Or if you buy toolbar traffic or use any adware or spyware service to buy traffic. This is used to help merchants identify affiliates that could be parasites and potentially steal from other affiliates.
Thanks, how would u call traffic that is coming from MSN, does they allow to make such traffic to one of the merchants i have (use the website as a channel)?
That would be under "Search Marketing" - a website isn't software. Software would be if you're promoting advertisers by using toolbars, ads in software programs, etc... - most people do not fall under this category.
Thanks but i'm talking about MSN messenger, that is a direct traffic, not from a website. there is no referal for such traffic since it's coming from MSN messenger, i.e sending a link to a friend.
If you're IMing a link to a friend, it isn't considered "software" traffic. However, I would recommend creating a landing page & sending your friends to that page instead - advertisers & network quality will get suspicious if your traffic never has referrers.
