What's so Wrong with Stealing Donuts?

He was busted for not paying for a small package of donuts, and now he could spend the rest of his life in prison. Friday in court, Robert Fassbender’s attorney, Michael Webb, tried to get the charges dropped before having to go to trial.

But the District Attorney’s Office plans to prosecute the case to the hilt, even if it means life in prison for Fassbender under California’s controversial three strikes law.

I didn't know stealing donuts was a felony. And is it doughnuts or donuts? It's spelled both ways in that article. :/

Stealing is a crime. But that kind (the one you mentioned) has not the same level of crime as killing a person! So he doesn't deserve that sentence!

stealing is a felony, doesn't matter what you steal, donuts, diamonds, copyrighted songs...

Now imagine every single MP3 you download illegally is a felony, how does it make you feel?
