This site is among the top search results for most of our best local keywords, like "Des Moines Real Estate" but it's only PR2 and also has a lot of serious competition. The site is: iowahomes4u.com It does a have a few backlinks, but nothing compared to the serious competition, yet consistently in the top spots.
Was on the market nearly five years before your site , the keyword density on the title for that keywords is better then you , although your description is better for humans , that sites description has the keywords. Get some for links and work for on these and give it some time (2-3 months) you'll be better.
# Links pointing to full URL: from Yahoo 535 Links pointing to domain: from Yahoo 546 Age of Domain 2729day 1 link from a .edu 1 link from DMOZ === This is a big plus and hard to get Pagerank 2 The only this site has is DMOZ and it age. Good luck
Does age of the site make that much difference? Amd if they really have that many links, why so low a PageRank?
Age of the website matters alot and .. i had seen they are providing exactly what visitor is searching !!
Age matters but not unbeatable , your site looks lucky in the long run and it won't take much time give it some time and get some more links slowly. also:
I guess the thing that surprised me was not that it ranked better than my own site, but that it's also ranked higher than the big local real estate offices. Those have much older domains, have higher PR's, more backlinks, etc. than this site...
They have a lot of low Pagerank anchor links pointing to their homepage. The sheer number of backlinks with their targeted keyword "Des Moines Real Estate" exceeds all of the other websites. Consequently, Google ranks them well. You can defeat them with some social bookmarking links that uses the dofollow tags.
I know age of site matters is there a time frame on that or a combination of that and other SEO efforts? Of course we all want to be in google favor. I have been doing links organically and recently started on forum and blogs and added a blog to our site. Could the age of site hinder all my efforts?
Keyword density ? Keywords in the title and description ? Dmoz and yahoo links are also important in google's eyes (I know you have dmoz links to but others ?) There are a lot of factors but if you work on these you'll be able to beat them but don't expect quick changes.Maybe next update. Google has 200 factors for ranking w only know little of them.
I would agree with Slimjim. And I don't believe in age factor. My suggestion, build more backlinks from high PR pages and make sure to link with anchor text similar to your targeted keyword. Also make sure your title has all the words contain in the targeted keywords. To speed up the process of search engine bot indexing, push those pages where your backlinks resides to ping service such as ping-o-matic. Even better if you could build your backlinks from social bookmarking sites. Make sure your social bookmarking backlink is placed in a high PR page. For example if your post manage to be listed on "the top of the day" page which normaly has much higher PR. Bottom line is what ever you do, put your link on a high PR pages. You might need to use tool which can identify PR for internal pages. One of it is livepr.info. Cheers. Azlan (AzlanHussain.com)
Let it be known that the age of a website is NOT that important. Please stop disseminating this myth. You can rank extremely well with just two factors: 1. seek a lot of quality text links with your targeted keywords in the anchor text 2. seek relevant backlinks from high ranking websites Note: If you can not afford to BUY text links from high ranking websites, then use the FREE social networking websites.
I need some seo expert help with my site as I am experiencing the same issues. My site is novawhite.com.. PS: Not trying to hijack the thread but seemed relevant
